Victory October Classical Open - FIDE & CFC-Rated U18 Chess Tournament

ELIGIBILITY

This tournament is open to all players who will be 18 years old or younger as of January 1, 2027, with a maximum CFC Regular or FIDE Standard rating of 1799.

SECTIONS

U1300 — CFC Regular-Rated

For players whose CFC Regular and FIDE Standard ratings are both below 1300, including unrated players.

U1800 — FIDE Standard & CFC Regular-Rated            

For players whose highest applicable rating is between 1300 and 1799.

How is your section determined?

Section placement is based on the HIGHER of your CFC Regular and FIDE Standard ratings.

For example:

• CFC 1200 / FIDE 1500 → U1800

• CFC 1500 / FIDE Unrated → U1800

• Unrated in both CFC and FIDE → U1300

Players with either rating of 1800 or higher are not eligible.

No play-ups or play-downs are permitted.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

5 rounds over two days.

Swiss System or Round Robin, depending on section size.

Family members will not be paired against each other in Rounds 1 and 2 whenever possible.

TIME CONTROL

45 minutes per player with a 15-second delay (45+15 delay)

Round 1: 9:15 am

Round 2: 11:30 am

Free pizza lunch for players: 1:30 pm - 2:00 pm

Round 3: 2:00  pm

Sunday, November 1, 2026

Round 4: 11:00 am

Round 5: 1:30 pm

Awards ceremony immediately after the final round, at approximately 3:30 pm.

DEFAULT TIME

30 minutes from the start of the round.

BYE POLICY

All requested byes are 0-point byes. A player may be marked as “not paired” for a requested round, but no half-point byes will be awarded.

ENTRY FEES

• Early Bird Rate: $45 – Available until Sunday, October 25

• Regular Rate: $50 – Applies from October 26 until registration closes on Friday, October 30 at 8:00 pm.

No on-site registration  will be accepted.

TIEBREAK RULES

1) Direct encounter

2) Buchholz - 1 (The same as Buchholz (sum of opponents’ scores), but the lowest opponent’s score is left out)

3) Buchholz ((Sum of all opponents’ scores)

4) Sonneborn-Berger (Opponents’ scores: full points for wins, half points for draws.)

5) Number of  Games Won

CANCELLATION POLICY

For cancellations made on or before October 25, a $5 processing fee per registration will be deducted from the refund.
No refunds will be issued for cancellations made after October 25.
