Victory September Classical Open - FIDE & CFC-Rated U18 Chess Tournament

ELIGIBILITY

This tournament is open to all players who will be 18 years old or younger as of January 1, 2027, with a maximum CFC Regular or FIDE Standard rating of 1799.

SECTIONS

U1300 — CFC Regular-rated only (not FIDE-rated)

U1800 — FIDE Standard-rated and CFC Regular-rated

Games in both sections will be submitted for CFC Regular rating. Only games in the U1800 section will also be submitted for FIDE Standard rating.

Section eligibility is based on the higher of the player’s CFC Regular Rating and FIDE Standard Rating.

Examples:

• CFC 1200 / FIDE 1500 → U1800
• CFC 1500 / FIDE 1200 → U1800
• CFC 1500 / FIDE Unrated → U1800
• CFC 1800 / FIDE 1500 → not eligible for the tournament
• CFC 1500 / FIDE 1800 → not eligible for the tournament
• Unrated in both CFC and FIDE → U1300

No play-ups or play-downs allowed.

FORMAT

Regular Swiss or Round Robin (depending on section size)

In Round 1 and 2, family members will not be paired against each other whenever possible.

TIME CONTROL

60 minutes per player with no increment (60+0)

Free pizza lunch for players: 11:30 am - 12:15 pm

Round 4: 11:00 am

Round 5: 1:30 pm

Awards ceremony immediately after the final round, at approximately 3:30 pm.

DEFAULT TIME

30 minutes from the start of the round.

BYE POLICY

All requested byes are 0-point byes. A player may be marked as “not paired” for a requested round, but no half-point byes will be awarded.

ENTRY FEES

• Early Bird Rate: $45 – Available until Sunday, September 13

• Regular Rate: $50 – Applies from September 14 until registration closes on Friday, September 18 at 8:00 pm.

No on-site registration  will be accepted.

TIEBREAK RULES

1) Direct encounter

2) Buchholz - 1 (The same as Buchholz (sum of opponents’ scores), but the lowest opponent’s score is left out)

3) Buchholz ((Sum of all opponents’ scores)

4) Sonneborn-Berger (Opponents’ scores: full points for wins, half points for draws.)

5) Number of  Games Won

CANCELLATION POLICY

$5 processing fee will be applied to any cancellations made on or before Septermber 13.
No refunds will be issued for cancellations made after September 13.
