ELIGIBILITY

This tournament is open to all players who will be 18 years old or younger as of January 1, 2027.

SECTIONS

U1300 - based on CFC Quick Rating    

U1700 - based on CFC Quick Rating    

FORMAT

5-round Swiss 

In Round 1, family members will not be paired against each other whenever possible.

TIME CONTROL

25 minutes per player with a 5-second increment per move.

SCHEDULE

Sunday, June 28, 2026

Round 1: 10:45 am

Round 2: 12:00 pm

Round 3: 1:15 pm

Free pizza and juice for players: 2:15 pm - 3:00 pm

Round 4: 3:00 pm

Round 5: 4:15 pm

Awards ceremony immediately after the final round (approximately 5:25 pm)

ENTRY FEES

Free - supported by the Town of oakville Community Activation Grant 2026

No on-site registration will be accepted.

CAPACITY

- 20 players in the U1300 section

- 20 players in the U1700 secton

PARTICIPATION GIFT & LUNCH

Every player will receive a mini foldable magnetic chess set.
Free pizza and juice will be provided for all players.

U1700:

Additional prizes may be announced if confirmed.

TIEBREAKS

1) Direct encounter

2) Buchholz - 1 (The same as Buchholz (sum of opponents’ scores), but the lowest opponent’s score is left out)

3) Buchholz ((Sum of all opponents’ scores)

4) Sonneborn-Berger (Opponents’ scores: full points for wins, half points for draws.)

5) Number of  Games Won
