ELIGIBILITY

This tournament is open to all players who will be 18 years old or younger as of January 1, 2027.

SECTIONS

U1300 - based on CFC Quick Rating

U1700 - based on CFC Quick Rating

O1700 - for players over 1700 CFC Quick Rating

FORMAT

Regular Swiss or Round Robin (depending on section size)

In Round 1, family members will not be paired against each other whenever possible.

TIME CONTROL

25 minutes per player with a 5-second increment per move.

Round 1: 9:30 p.m.

Round 2: 10:40 a.m.

Round 3: 11:50 a.m.

Free pizza lunch for players: 12:50 pm - 1:20 pm

Round 4: 1:20 p.m.

Round 5: 2:30 p.m.

• Early Bird Rate: $40 – Available until Sunday, January 18

• Regular Rate: $50 – Applies from January 19 until registration closes on January 23 at 8:00 p.m.

No on-site registration will be accepted.

1st place - trophy + monthly pass (6 visits for 1 child + 1 adult - $90 value) from Kidzatplay

U1700:

1st place - $75

2nd place - $50

Open (minimum 6 players required):

• Prize pool: 50% of registration fees from participants in this section

   

• Distribution:

   

  • 1st place – 50% of prize pool

  • 2nd place – 30% of prize pool

  • 3rd place – 20% of prize pool

TIEBREAK RULES

1) Direct encounter

2) Buchholz - 1 (The same as Buchholz (sum of opponents’ scores), but the lowest opponent’s score is left out)

3) Buchholz ((Sum of all opponents’ scores)

4) Sonneborn-Berger (Opponents’ scores: full points for wins, half points for draws.)

5) Number of  Games Won

CANCELLATION POLICY

$10 processing fee will be applied to any cancellations made on or before January 18.
No refunds will be issued for cancellations made after January 18.
